L’album « Noir Atlantique » s’inspire du concept développé par Paul Gilroy dans son ouvrage The Black Atlantic dans lequel il perçoit cette zone Atlantique comme un espace transnational où s’élaboraient et se mélangeaient les cultures noires depuis l’avènement de l’esclavagisme à grande échelle. Il fait ressurgir de nombreux liens culturels peu connus qui démontrent que la musique circule en permanence et qu’elle se crée par des apports multiples et brassés ; qu’elle n’est en aucun cas le produit d’un environnement fermé sur lui-même. Tout ceci est très proche de la philosophie de Tonn3rr3, un voyage mélangeant les catégories d’instruments (organiques, électroniques, électriques), les styles (beats électro, sons psychédéliques, rythmes afro), les compositions (thèmes instrumentaux, improvisation, répétition et transe) avec des emprunts multiples à différents genres et traditions. Sono Mondiale, Global Bass, No Border, appelez ça comme vous voulez, TONN3RR3 rejette avec force l’idée d’appropriation culturelle en s’inspirant de leurs coups de foudre, remaniant sans cesse le matériau pour créer une musique fédératrice, qui s’exprime surtout sur le dancefloor, dans le partage avec le public.

The album "Noir Atlantique" is inspired by the concept developed in Paul Gilroy’s novel The Black Atlantic in which the Atlantic area is foreseen as a transnational space where black cultures developed throughout the slave trade. It brings back many little-known cultural links showing the constant circulation of music, an amalgam of multiple contributions; that it is in no way the result of an environment closed on itself. All this is close to the way Tonn3rr3 are conceiving and creating their music , a journey and a blend of instruments and genres . Sono Mondiale, Global Bass, No Border, call it as you wish, TONN3RR3 strongly rejects the idea of cultural appropriation, experimenting and remodeling to create ist own music, looking towards the dancefloor.
